PM Modi to Meet Myanmar President in New Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing in New Delhi to strengthen bilateral relations between India and Myanmar. The discussions are expected to focus on security cooperation, connectivity projects, business engagement and civilisational links between the two countries.

Myanmar is strategically important for India’s Act East Policy and regional connectivity. Cooperation with Myanmar is also important for border security, trade routes and India’s engagement with Southeast Asia.

Khet Bachao Abhiyan to be Launched in Madhya Pradesh

Khet Bachao Abhiyan Promotes Sustainable FarmingUnion Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will launch the month-long Khet Bachao Abhiyan in Madhya Pradesh. The campaign aims to promote balanced use of fertilisers, timely weather advisories and direct delivery of government scheme benefits to farmers.

The initiative is expected to help farmers reduce input costs, improve soil health and adopt better crop management practices. It also reflects the government’s focus on technology-based agricultural support and farmer welfare.

India-Oman CEPA Comes into Force

The India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement came into force on 1 June 2026. Under the agreement, India will get duty-free access to 98.08% of Omani tariff lines.

This is expected to boost bilateral trade, improve market access for Indian goods and strengthen India’s economic presence in the Gulf region. Oman is an important partner for India in trade, energy security and the Indian diaspora network.

Chenab–Beas Link Tunnel Project Approved

The Indian government has approved the ₹2,352-crore Chenab–Beas Link Tunnel project in Himachal Pradesh. The project is linked with inter-basin water transfer, irrigation planning and river-linking infrastructure.

The Chenab river is part of the Indus river system, while the Beas is a tributary of the Sutlej. Such infrastructure projects are important for water resource management, irrigation support and regional development.

World’s First Pig-to-Human Multi-Organ Transplant Study

Chinese doctors performed the world’s first simultaneous pig-to-human multi-organ transplant by placing gene-edited pig kidneys and liver into a brain-dead patient. The procedure was conducted to study rejection risks in xenotransplantation.

This development is important for medical science because organ shortage remains a global challenge. Gene-edited animal organs may become a future solution, but ethical, medical and safety concerns remain significant.

New Frog Species Discovered in Nagaland

A new cascade-dwelling frog species, Amolops kamal, was discovered near Singrep village in Nagaland’s Kiphire district by scientists from the Zoological Survey of India.

The discovery highlights the rich biodiversity of Northeast India. It also shows the importance of continued scientific exploration and conservation in ecologically sensitive regions.

India-Germany Submarine Deal Near Finalisation

India and Germany are close to finalising an $8 billion Project 75-I deal for six HDW Class 214 submarines. The deal is expected to include technology transfer for local construction in India.
