About PM JANMAN

  • Implemented by The Ministry of Tribal Affairs in collaboration with State governments and PVTG communities.
  • Central Sector and Centrally Sponsored Schemes with 11 critical interventions overseen by 9 Ministries.
  • Targets villages inhabited by Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) for existing scheme implementation.
  • PM JANMAN focuses on promoting sustainable livelihoods by providing skills training, resources, and securing land titles under the Forest Rights Act.
  • Encompasses sectors such as safe housing (PM-AWAS Scheme), clean drinking water, healthcare, education, nutrition, and connectivity.
  • Focus on sustainable livelihoods, Van Dhan Vikas Kendras, off-grid solar power, and solar street lights.
  • Health outreach strategies, including Mobile Medical Health Units, are tailored for specific issues like teenage pregnancies and oral health.

 

About PVTG

·   Establishment:

o   Dhebar Commission established Primitive Tribal Groups (PTGs).

·   PVTGs Definition:

o   Defined as tribal communities with declining population, pre-agrarian technology use, economic backwardness, and low literacy.

o   Identified as less developed among tribal communities.

·   Renaming in 2006:

o   In 2006, PTGs renamed as Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).

o   Reside in remote areas, face challenges due to poor infrastructure and administrative support.

·   Geographical Spread:

o   75 PVTG communities in 22,544 villages across 18 States and Union Territories in India.

o   Odisha has the highest number (15), followed by Andhra Pradesh (12), Bihar, and Jharkhand (9), among others.
