The 11th India International Science Festival (IISF) will be held in Chandigarh from 6th–9th December 2025 with the theme ‘Vigyan se Samruddhi: For Atma Nirbhar Bharat’. It aims to highlight India’s scientific achievements and promote innovation, sustainability, and self-reliance.

Key Highlights of IISF 2025:

  • The four-day event will be held in Chandigarh from 6–9 December 2025.
  • The central theme of IISF 2025 is “Vigyan se Samruddhi: For Atma Nirbhar Bharat”, emphasizing the role of science in national progress.
  • The festival will feature discussions, exhibitions, and innovations across science, technology, and ecology.
  • It aims to promote public engagement in science and showcase India’s advancements in research and innovation.

Focus Areas and Minister’s Vision:

  • Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh launched the curtain raiser event in New Delhi.
  • He announced that the IISF will focus on five major themes, including:
    • Science, Technology, and Ecology of North-West India and the Himalayan Region

    • Science for Society

    • Science and Education

    • Atmanirbhar Bharat through Science and Technology

    • Integration of Traditional and Modern Knowledge Systems

  • Singh emphasized democratizing research funding through the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (NRF).
  • The minister underlined that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently prioritized science and technology for national development over the last decade.
  • The event reflects India’s commitment to scientific empowerment and regional innovation ecosystems.

About India International Science Festival (IISF) :

●      India International Science Festival (IISF) was first held in 2015, jointly organized by DST, DBT, MoES, and Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA).

●      It serves as a platform to celebrate science, encouraging public participation and scientific temper.

●      IISF aligns with India’s Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy (STIP) and supports Atma Nirbhar Bharat objectives.

●      The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (NRF) aims to broaden research opportunities across universities and states, promoting inclusive innovation.

●      The festival also emphasizes the fusion of traditional Indian knowledge (like Ayurveda and agriculture) with modern scientific methods, reflecting India’s holistic scientific vision.
