Wholesale Inflation Declines to Three-Month Low
Current Inflation Rate:
India’s wholesale inflation dropped to 2.04% in July, marking the lowest rate in the last three months. This decrease follows a 16-month high of 3.36% in June.
Key Factors Behind the Decline:
Food Prices: The main contributor to the decline was a reduction in food inflation, driven by lower vegetable prices, which fell significantly from June’s 7.75% to 3.55% in July.
Non-Food Articles: Prices for non-food articles also declined by 2.90% in July, a sharper decrease compared to the 1.95% drop in June.
Fuel and Power: Fuel and power prices rose by 1.72% in July, a marked decrease from June’s 8.68%. Crude petroleum and natural gas prices increased by 8.93% annually, down from 12.55% in June.
