About the Surge in Mumps Cases Linked to Low Vaccination Amid COVID-19:
Hospitals in New Delhi report a surge in mumps cases, with 5-6 cases weekly compared to negligible cases pre-pandemic.
Most patients are 6-7 years old, facing complications.
Experts attribute the rise to reduced vaccination rates during the pandemic, compromising community immunity.
Lack of mumps-specific vaccination adds to the problem, as vaccines are primarily provided for measles and rubella.
