INDIGENOUSLY BUILT CRUISE MISSILE SUCCESSFULLY TESTED

Why in the news?

DRDO successfully tests indigenous cruise missiles with long-range capabilities, featuring waypoint navigation and low altitude sea-skimming flight.

About the Test Conducted by DRDO:

  • The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) recently conducted a successful flight test of an indigenously developed cruise missile.
  • The test took place at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha.
  • The cruise missile demonstrated long-range capabilities and flew at subsonic speeds.
  • It utilised waypoint navigation, maintaining the desired path throughout the test.
  • Notably, the missile executed very low altitude sea-skimming flight, showcasing its versatility and precision.
