India-Kyrgyzstan Joint Military Exercise KHAJAR-XII
The India-Kyrgyzstan Joint Special Forces Exercise KHAJAR-XII takes place in Assam, focusing on counter-terrorism and improving military interoperability. It involves training in urban warfare, counter-insurgency, and disaster management. Kyrgyzstan, bordered by Kazakhstan to the north, Uzbekistan to the west, Tajikistan to the south, and China to the east, plays a strategic role in Central Asia. This exercise enhances Kyrgyzstan’s military capacity and exposes its forces to India’s advanced technologies.
It also strengthens India’s defense ties with Kyrgyzstan, aligning both countries’ security interests in countering terrorism and fostering regional stability. The KHAJAR series, initiated in 2011, is a cornerstone of India’s defense diplomacy in Central Asia.
