About PM-WANI Scheme :

  PM-WANI stands for Prime Minister’s Wi-Fi Access Network Interface.

  The scheme was launched by the Government of India in December 2020 to expand public Wi-Fi hotspots across the country.

  It aims to improve internet penetration and enhance the availability of low-cost broadband services.

  The framework encourages the growth of Public Data Offices (PDOs), which can provide Wi-Fi services without requiring a licence fee.
