About Nina Singh:

  • A 1989-batch IPS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, she served in key roles, including Joint Director in the CBI.

About Central Armed Police Force (CAPF):

  • CAPF encompasses central police organizations in India, operating under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
  • Formerly termed “Central Para-Military Forces (CPMF),” it transitioned to “Central Armed Police Forces” in 2011, omitting “paramilitary.”
  • Primarily tasked with internal security and border protection.
  • There are 7 constituent forces under CAPF.

Leadership and Structure:

  • Each force within CAPF has its own cadre of officers.
  • Overall, these forces are overseen by officers of the Indian Police Service (IPS).
Seven Constituent Forces

·   Assam Rifles (AR): One of the seven CAPFs involved in security and border duties.

·   Border Security Force (BSF): Engaged in safeguarding borders and maintaining internal security.

·   Central Industrial Security Force (CISF): Responsible for industrial security and critical infrastructure protection.

·   Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF): A significant force dealing with internal security and counterinsurgency.

·   Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP): Specialized in border security on the Indo-Tibetan border.

·   National Security Guard (NSG): Elite force handling counter-terrorism and anti-hijacking operations.

·   Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB): Focuses on guarding India’s borders with Nepal and Bhutan.
