The Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar recognizes 82 young artists for outstanding contributions to Indian performing arts, with a special ceremony and festival showcasing their talents in New Delhi.
Highlights of the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar Ceremony:
- Event Details: Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, will present the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for 2022 and 2023 to 82 young artists.
- Date and Venue: The award ceremony will take place on 22nd November 2024, at 11 A.M., at Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi.
- Presiding Officials: The ceremony will be led by Dr. Sandhya Purecha, Chairman of Sangeet Natak Akademi, and Smt. Uma Nanduri, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture.
Festival of Performing Arts
- Post-Ceremony Event: After the award ceremony, a Festival of Performing Arts will feature the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar recipients.
- Venues: The performances will be held at three venues in New Delhi:
- Meghdoot Theatre Complex
- Abhimanch Theatre, National School of Drama
- Vivekanand Auditorium, Kathak Kendra
- Dates: The festival will run from 22nd to 26th November 2024.
About Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar:
- Purpose: Instituted by Sangeet Natak Akademi in 2006, the award honours young performers (under 40 years) in music, dance, drama, folk arts, tribal arts, and puppetry.
- Award Details: The Yuva Puraskar includes a Rs 25,000 prize, plaque, and angavastram.
- Objective: The award aims to encourage and motivate young artists in various performing arts of India, fostering cultural growth and preservation.
