Taiwanese Firm to Invest ₹1,000 Crore in Karnataka’s Industrial Park
In a significant move aimed at strengthening India’s position in the global electronics and semiconductor value chain, the Allegiance Group, a Taiwanese firm, has signed an agreement with the Karnataka government to invest ₹1,000 crore in the development of an India-Taiwan Industrial Park (ITIP). This initiative is expected to enhance the state’s status as a hub for cutting-edge technology and manufacturing.
The ITIP will focus on electronics and semiconductor manufacturing, fostering innovation and research in printed circuit boards (PCBs), chip design, and related areas. The project is projected to create 800 direct jobs, primarily in high-tech sectors. It will also contribute to the state’s goal of attracting further foreign investment and promoting global best practices in manufacturing.
In his remarks, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah noted that the ITIP would not only enhance the state’s manufacturing capabilities but also provide employment opportunities for youth, strengthening the state’s competitive edge in the global electronics market. IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge added that the park will foster technological advancements and innovation, improving India’s position in the semiconductor ecosystem.
This development is part of Karnataka’s broader strategy to attract international investment, with similar agreements in place with Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, focusing on the creation of state-of-the-art industrial facilities.
The Allegiance Group’s investment follows the signing of ₹6.57 lakh crore worth of MoUs by the Karnataka government in the past two years, aimed at boosting the state’s manufacturing and technological infrastructure. Notable companies like Tata Motors, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), and Bosch have already established operations in the state, contributing to its growing reputation as a leading center for advanced manufacturing and research.
