SWAMIH Fund : Report

News: The SWAMIH Fund started in 2019 and has constructed over 20,557 dwellings.

  • India’s largest social impact fund, the Special Window for Affordable and Mid-Income Housing (SWAMIH) Investment Fund, was established expressly for finishing distressed and stalled residential projects.
  • The Fund is supported by the Indian Ministry of Finance and is run by State Bank Group company SBICAP Ventures Ltd.
  • In India or the international markets, the Fund has no precedents or peer funds that are comparable.
  • It has been registered with SEBI as a Category-II AIF (Alternate Investment Fund) debt fund.
  • The Fund is regarded as the lender of last resort for distressed projects because it considers first-time developers, established developers with troubled projects, developers with a poor track record of stalled projects, customer complaints and NPA accounts, and even projects where there are litigation issues.
