Why in the news?
- Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) sanctioned procurements totaling Rs 84,560 crore for the armed forces.
- Approved acquisitions include 15 maritime reconnaissance and multi-mission maritime aircraft for the Navy and Coast Guard, six flight refueller aircraft for the IAF, and new generation anti-tank mines for the Army.
