  • The National Sports Awards will be presented at Rashtrapati Bhavan by President Droupadi Murmu.
  • The highest sporting honor in the nation, the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, will be given to badminton players Satwik Sai Raj Rankireddy and Chirag C. Shetty.
  • The Arjuna Awards are for twenty-six athletes and the Dronacharya awards will be given to eight coaches.
  • The recipients of the Dhyan Chand Award for Lifetime Achievement in Sports and Games are Vineet Kumar Sharma for Hockey, Kavitha Selvaraj for Kabaddi, and Manjusha Kanwar for Badminton.
  • Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar will be awarded to Odisha Mining Corporation Limited and Jain Deemed to be University, Bengaluru.

About The National Sports Awards

  • The highest athletic honors in India are known as the National Sports Honors, which are a set of six individual honors given to players, coaches, or organizations in recognition of their achievements and contributions to the growth of Indian sports.
  • The Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award is the highest sporting honor in the country.
  • The contribution of sports is recognized by the Ministry Of Youth Affairs & Sports and the awards are presented by the President every year.
  • Awards:
    • The Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna is India’s highest sporting award. It was put into effect in 1991–1992. The recipient or recipients are recognized for their exceptional achievement in sports over a four-year period at the international level;
    • The Dronacharya Awards were established in 1985 to recognize and thank distinguished coaches who have produced medal winners at esteemed international sporting events;
    • The Arjuna Awards were established in 1961. Athletes must exhibit leadership, sportsmanship, and discipline in addition to strong performance at the international level during the preceding four years in order to be eligible for the Award.
    • Dhyan Chand award was established in 2002. It’s a lifetime achievement award in sports;
    • The university receives the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy for their outstanding performance in intercollegiate competitions during the previous academic year.
    • Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar is given to groups and individuals for their contributions to the growth and promotion of sports during the previous three years.
    • The Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award is given to honor exceptional accomplishments in sports or adventure activities on land, sea, or in the air.
