  • The Ministry has extended validity nine times since 2020 due to processing delays, with recent orders extending certificates till June 30, 2024.
What is FCRA Foreign Contribution Regulation Act ?

●     Enacted in 1976 during the Emergency period to regulate foreign donations and prevent interference in India’s affairs.

●     Amendments:

●     2010: Consolidation to regulate foreign contributions, preventing activities against national interest.

●     2020: Prohibits transfer of foreign funds, limits administrative expenses to 20%.

●     Registration and Regulation:

●     Essential for receiving foreign donations.

●     Applicants must open a designated bank account in New Delhi’s State Bank of India branch.
