  • Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled a scheme to develop 63,000 tribal villages.
  • Allocation of ₹13,000 crore for the development of these villages.
  • Aim to improve infrastructure and living conditions in tribal areas.

PM-DAKSH Yojana: Key Points

  • Launch & Objective: Initiated in 2020-21, aims to enhance employability for socio-economic development through skill improvement.
  • Target Groups: SCs, OBCs, EBCs, DNTs, sanitation workers, artisans, women, and youth.
  • Eligibility: Age 18-45 years; income limits: No limit for SCs/DNTs; below ₹3 lakh for OBCs; below ₹1 lakh for EBCs.
  • Nodal Ministry: Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MoSJ&E).

Key Initiatives for Tribal Development:

PM Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN):

  • Objective: Support and integrate 75 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) in 22,544 villages.
  • Coverage: 28 lakh people across 18 states and union territories.
  • Significance: Uplifts tribal communities, preserves heritage, and ensures socio-economic empowerment.

Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra:

  • Focus: Raise awareness and provide welfare benefits including sanitation, financial services, electricity, housing, food security, healthcare, and clean water.
  • Method: Enrolment of beneficiaries during the Yatra, starting from tribal-dominant districts.

PM PVTG Mission:

  • Goal: Enhance socio-economic status of PVTGs.
  • Budget: ₹24,000 crore allocated.
  • Components: Safe housing, clean water, sanitation, education, health, and improved road access.
