AMRUT 2.0 approved with a central assistance of ₹66,750 crore from 2021-2026, total outlay ₹2.99 lakh crore.
About AMRUT Scheme:
AMRUT Launch: Initiated on June 25, 2015, in 500 cities, covering 60% of urban population.
Objectives: Improve water supply, sewerage, drainage, green spaces, non-motorised transport, and urban reforms.
AMRUT 2.0 Scheme
Launch: October 1, 2021, extending from FY 2021-22 to FY 2025-26.
Goals: Expand water supply to 4,900 towns, enhance sewage/septage management in 500 cities.
Focus: Circular economy of water, recycling, rejuvenation, and conservation.
Additional Components
Pey Jal Survekshan: Assess water distribution, wastewater reuse, and promote competition.
Technology Sub-Mission: Utilise global water technologies.
IEC Campaign: Raise awareness on water conservation.
