1. India Gets Its First Soil Texture Map

The ICAR–National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning (NBSS&LUP), Nagpur, has developed India’s first soil texture map.

The new map provides digitised soil classification at the hectare level, offering detailed information about the physical composition and characteristics of soils across different regions.

The initiative can support better decision-making in crop suitability assessment, irrigation planning, soil and water management, precision agriculture and sustainable land-use planning. It can also help policymakers and agricultural agencies make more location-specific interventions.

2. BRICS Tourism Ministers Adopt Jaipur Declaration 2026
