Why in the news?

  • The Union Labour Ministry initiated steps to implement the four Labour Codes.
  • Passed in 2019 and 2020, these Codes are not yet operational due to trade union objections.
  • Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Labour Secretary Sumita Dawra have started meeting with trade union representatives for their cooperation.
