Centre Of Excellence On Sustainable Land Management

News: The Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) in Dehradun’s Centre of Excellence on Sustainable Land Management was officially opened by the Union Minister.

During the 14th Conference of the Parties (COP-14) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), which took place in September 2019, the Prime Minister of India announced the creation of the CoE-SLM.

Targets for Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) are to be established,

Develop early warning systems for drought, integrate gender issues into land tenure and rights governance, and assess the effects of land degradation on greenhouse gas emissions and biodiversity loss.

through providing technical assistance, developing capacity, and dispersing information at the national and sub-national levels, to make it easier to restore degraded land.

to encourage South-South cooperation and address problems with land degradation through eco-friendly land management techniques.
