Angikaar 2025 to Accelerate PMAY-Urban Goals

Why in News ?

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has launched the Angikaar 2025 campaign under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0. The initiative aims to fast-track application verification, raise awareness about housing benefits, and ensure the completion of sanctioned houses across India.

Angikaar 2025: Boosting PMAY-Urban Mission Goals

Key Features of Angikaar 2025:

  • Awareness Drive: Designed as an outreach programme to create nationwide awareness about PMAY-U benefits.
  • Faster Implementation: Will accelerate verification of applications under the housing scheme.
  • Completion of Houses: Focus on expediting construction and delivery of already sanctioned houses.
  • Beneficiary Engagement: Ensures that eligible citizens are informed and included in the scheme benefits.
  • Nationwide Coverage: The campaign will be implemented across all states and union territories.

Progress under PMAY-Urban:

  • Scale of Implementation: Over 20 crore houses have been sanctioned under PMAY-U since its launch.
  • Completed Houses: More than 94 lakh pucca houses have already been constructed and handed over.
  • Remaining Target: Angikaar 2025 will help fast-track the completion of the pending sanctioned houses.
  • Beneficiary Support: The initiative is expected to enhance transparency, speed, and accountability in the housing delivery process.
  • Urban Transformation: The scheme aligns with the broader goal of housing for all and urban development under PMAY-U 2.0.

Understanding Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana:

●     Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U): Launched in 2015, aims to provide “Housing for All” by 2022, now extended under PMAY-U 2.0.

●     Components: Includes Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS), Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC), In-Situ Slum Redevelopment (ISSR), and Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP).

●     Target: Construction of over 1 crore urban houses with financial assistance from the central government.

●     Beneficiaries: Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Low Income Groups (LIG), and Middle-Income Groups (MIG).

●     Implementation: States and UTs implement PMAY-U with support from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
