Aizawl Joins Rail Map: NE Connectivity Expands

Why in the News?

Mizoram’s capital Aizawl becomes the fourth Northeast capital to get a railway link, following a successful trial runon the Bairabi–Sairang line. The project is part of a broader push to connect all Northeast capitals to the rail network, potentially boosting agricultural research and development in the region, as supported by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). This development aligns with ICAR’s efforts to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability in the Northeast, including research on crops like bajra and maize stem borer control. The patent office Delhi has been involved in processing patent applications related to agricultural innovations, including eco-friendly alternatives to traditional farming methods.
