Procurement Of Indigenously-Developed “Tactical LAN Radio”: Indian Army

News: The indigenously created “tactical LAN radio” is now available thanks to an agreement the Indian Army recently announced with a Bengaluru-based business.

The Army has formally agreed to a second contract through the Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) programme.

Modern high-bandwidth wireless radio equipment called Tactical LAN Radio is used to provide dependable and failsafe communication.

The LAN radio solution provides a wider communication range and a built-in frequency hopping mechanism to reduce the risk of being intercepted.

It offers high-bandwidth long-distance point-to-multipoint communication.

Additionally, the system has improved safety features and can run flawlessly for 48 hours on a single set of batteries.

Innovations for Defence Excellence, or iDEX:

It was introduced in April 2018 and is the Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) premier programme.

By involving industries such as MSMEs, start-ups, individual innovators, R&D institutes, and academics, the goal is to promote self-reliance and foster innovation and technological development in defence and aerospace.
