Why in the news?
- India is transitioning from women’s development to women-led development.
- Budget allocation for women’s welfare and empowerment increased by 218.8%.
- Gender Budget now constitutes 6.5% of the total Union Budget, the highest since 2006.

Key Facts:Female Labour Force Participation:
- Female Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) rose from 23.3% in 2017-18 to 37% in 2022-23, driven by rural women.
- Skilling schemes have increasingly targeted women:
- PMKVY: Women trained increased from 42.7% (2015-16) to 52.3% (2023-24).
- Jan shikshak sang(JSS) scheme: 82% of beneficiaries are women.
- ITIs and National Skill Training Institutes: Female participation rose from 9.8% to 13.3%.
