Women And Men In India 2022

News: The 24th edition of “Women and Men in India 2022” was produced by the Ministry of Statistics and Plan Implementation (MoSPI) (an annual statistics released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation)

The Women and Men in India 2022 report, published on March 16, 2023, predicts a considerable increase in India’s sex ratio (the number of women for every 1,000 men) to 952 by 2036, up from the country’s current 943.

According to the data by the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, the sex ratio at birth increased by three points to 907 in 2018–20 from 904 in 2017–19.

However the lack of employment opportunities for women continues to limit their ability to become financially independent.

Since 2017–2018, India’s labour force participation rate—defined as the proportion of adults over 15 who are employed in the population—has increased. But women lag far behind men in society.

According to the research, the rate in 2021–2022 was 77.2 for men and 32.8 for women, with no progress in this gap over time.

Men in rural areas earn more than women do in urban areas, which is further shown by the average daily income obtained by casual workers in jobs other than public works.
