  • Wings India 2024, the largest civil aviation event in Asia, is scheduled to launch at Hyderabad’s Begumpet Airport on 108th January, 2024.
  • The biennial event is the outcome of the collaborative efforts of Ministry of Civil Aviation, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), and the Airports Authority of India.
  • This year’s Wings India will feature a variety of displays of modern aircraft, allied aviation services, auxiliary unit businesses, and developments in the travel and tourism industry.
  • The theme of Wings India 2024 is “Connecting India with the World in Amritkal,” and the discussions about the plans and framework for the nation’s future aviation sector will also take place.

About Wings India 2024

  • Wings India 2024, a four-day event, will bring together global aviation industry stakeholders and participants to foster collaboration, exhibit innovations, and investigate business prospects.
  • In addition to roundtables and panel discussions, the CEOs’ conference and ministerial-level discussions will help map out steps that support national goals and promote innovation, growth, and connectivity in the aviation industry through 2047.
  • The event will feature the best in the aviation industry showcasing their innovative aviation technology and aircraft machinery and Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. will exhibit its domestic civil platforms, including the upgraded civil helicopter Dhruv and the Hindustan-228 aircraft, at the show.
  • In addition to the first Airbus A350 to be displayed in the country, Air India will also be introducing the nation’s very first Boeing 777-9.
  • Over 25 aircraft of various sizes will be on display at the venue in addition to the captivating aerobatic display by the Indian Air Force’s Sarang team.
  • Approximately 5,000 business representatives and 1500 delegates from more than 100 countries are anticipated to attend and the entire event is expected to draw over a lakh visitors, 500 Business to Business meetings, and 130 exhibitors by the time it ends on the 21st of this month.
The Airport Authority of India (AAI)

●    It was established by a parliamentary act and merged with the former National Airports Authority and International Airports Authority of India on April 1, 1995;

●    It is in charge of building, developing, and maintaining air cargo terminals to process foreign air cargo at both domestic and international airports in India.

Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry

●    The largest and oldest apex organization for Indian business and industry, FICCI serves as the hub for independent businesses in the country and it was formally  opened for business in 1927;

●    FICCI represents more than 2,50,000 business units directly and indirectly through its membership of more than 1500 corporates nationwide as well as more than 500 chambers of commerce and business associations;

●    Strategy used by FICCI: To promote business it hosts a variety of events, such as conferences, seminars, business meetings, and exhibitions.

About Dhruv helicopters:

●    The Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv is a lightweight (weighs 5.5 tons) utility helicopter with multiple roles and missions, designed for both military and civilian use;

●    It is built indigenously by The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL);

●    Known by another name, ALH Rudra, it is capable of carrying an air-to-air missile system, a 70 mm rocket, and a 20 mm turret gun. Its twin engine configuration enables it to fly continuously almost the whole flight envelope with maximum take-off weight is 5800 kg with a range of 590 kms.

●    Operated by: The Indian Coast Guard, along with the Army, Navy, and Air Force, are the three branches of the Indian armed forces that operate the ALH helicopters;

●    Categories of the Dhruv: Major variants are categorized as Dhruv Mk-I, Mk-II, Mk-III, and Mk-IV and for attack, close air support, and high altitude operations, the HAL ALG Dhruv helicopter is equipped with the Mk-IV version (armed ariant);

●    Countries exported: Nepal, Bolivia, Israel, Myanmar, and the Maldives;
