Why in the News ?
The Union Agriculture Minister announced the launch of Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, a nationwide awareness campaign from 29 May to 12 June, aimed at educating 1.5 crore farmers on modern agricultural technologies and new seed varieties across 700 districts.
About the Launch of Nationwide Awareness Campaign:
- The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan will run from 29th May to 12th June 2025.
- Announced by Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan during the National Kharif Campaign Conference in New Delhi.
- Aimed at spreading awareness on modern farming technologies, advanced seed varieties, and research outcomes.
Massive Outreach and Collaboration Strategy
- The campaign will cover 700 districts and target 5 crore farmers.
- 2,000 teams will be formed with agricultural scientists, state officials, and progressive farmers.
- Each team will conduct three meetings daily, aiming to reach 10–12 lakh farmers per day.
- Jointly organized by the central and state governments for effective implementation.
Focus on Technology Transfer and Productivity
- Emphasis on strengthening agriculture extension services to improve crop productivity.
- Farmers will be introduced to lab-to-land innovations, ensuring timely adoption of research-based practices.
- The initiative aligns with broader goals of agricultural modernization and sustainable farming under the vision of Viksit Bharat.
