About Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra

  • The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra is being carried out all over the nation to guarantee that the government’s flagship programmes reach all of their intended beneficiaries within a set amount of time.
  • Prime Minister Modi has been in regular contact with the recipients of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra across the nation since its inception on November 15 of last year.
  • Reaching out to the public, raising awareness, and offering benefits of welfare programs like PM-Ujjwala Yojana, PM-Aayushman Bharat, and PM Awas Yojana are the main goals of the Yatra.
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY)

●  About: As a flagship initiative, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MOPNG) launched the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) to provide clean cooking fuel, such as LPG, to impoverished and rural households that previously relied on firewood, coal, cow dung cakes, and other traditional fuels.

●  Traditional cooking fuels had negative effects on both the environment and the health of rural women.

●  Goals:

○  Preserving women’s health and empowering them;

○  Lowering the amount of people who die in India from using dirty cooking fuel;

○  Avoiding a large number of acute respiratory diseases in young children that are brought on by indoor air pollution from burning fossil fuels.

●  Features:

○  The scheme gives BPL households financial support of Rs 1600 for each LPG connection;

○  The beneficiaries of Ujjwala 2.0 will receive a hotplate and the first refill at no cost, in addition to an LPG connection without a deposit.

PM – Aayushman Bharat

●  It begun in accordance with the National Health Policy 2017’s recommendation in order to realize the goal of universal health coverage (UHC).

●  This program has been structured to meet the Sustainable Development Goals and their core tenet, “leave no one behind.”

●  The objectives are:

○  To implement ground-breaking programs at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels that address health holistically, encompassing ambulatory care, promotion, and prevention;

○  Comprises the ongoing federally funded programs known as Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) and Senior Citizen Health Insurance Scheme (SCHIS).

●  Methods: Ayushman Bharat uses a continuum of care model that consists of two interconnected parts: Wellness Centers and Health Centers (HWCs) and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY)

●   Crucial Elements of PM-JAY:

○  The biggest health insurance and assurance program in the world, fully funded by the government;

○  It offers coverage for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization in India’s public and private hospitals, up to 5 lakhs per family annually;

○  Coverage: Approximately 50 crore beneficiaries, or over 10.74 crore impoverished and vulnerable families, are qualified for these benefits and it gives the recipient cashless access to medical services at the point of service.
