- Interpol’s “Operation Storm Makers I” uncovered a surge in human trafficking victims being coerced into cybercrimes, extending beyond Southeast Asia.
- The operation led to 281 arrests across various countries, focusing on crimes like human trafficking, passport forgery, fraud schemes involving cryptocurrency, work-from-home scams, and online gambling.
Law Enforcement Actions:
- Indian enforcement agencies actively participated, resulting in the rescue of 149 human trafficking victims and the initiation of over 360 investigations.
- Telangana police highlighted one of India’s initial cases, revealing an individual forced into cyber fraud after being lured abroad.
