“Universal Premier Cup” Cricket Tournament

“Universal Premier Cup” cricket tournament was organized by Universal Group of Institutions, Bangalore for the sports enthusiasts of the neighborhood on January 28 and 29, 2023 at the beautiful green grass pitch of the institution.

The tournament was inaugurated by Shri. R Upendra Shetty, the Founder Chairman of the Organization along with Shri. RP Prakash, BJP General Secretary of Bangalore North Zone and Shri. Vijayakumar, Senior Coach of the Karnataka State Cricket Association. Also present were Dr. Saraswati Kumble, Principal of the Universal School of Administration, Mr. Vishwas Puttaswamy, Principal, Universal School of Law, Dr Keshava Neera, Principal of Competitive Examination Wing. Mr.J Santhosh Shetty, the Administrator of the Institution made a compelling commentary in Kannada and English focusing on the strategic and psychological aspects of play describing the situation of the game got the fans present in the ground instantly connect to him and enjoy the game.

25 teams including players from various educational institutes including teams from surrounding village residents and general public teams in and around Bangalore participated in the tournament and enthralled participant ports aficionados. Senior players of the Karnataka State Cricket Association shouldered the responsibilities of umpiring the two-day tournament. The winning team bagged a grand trophy and a cash prize of Rs.25,000 and the runner-up team earned a trophy and a cash prize of Rs.15,000. The first prize was won by the team Maitreyi of Bangalore city, while Ramohalli Yuva Morcha team won the second prize.

In the main award ceremony, the founder chairman of the organization Mr. R. Upendra Shetty, local doctor Dr. Sunil, Mr. Prithviraj Urs, Administrative Officer of the Institute, Mr. J Santosh Shetty, Principal of the Competitive Exam Wing of the Institute, Dr. Keshav Neera, Head of HR Department of the organization Mrs. Suchitra Shetty, UPSC Exam Mentor Mr. Naveen Kumar were present and the Best Player, Best Bowler and Best Batsman awards were given to the player for their exceptional performance in the two days tournament. All participating teams were honored with a memento on behalf of the organization. At the end of the tournament, Mr. Omkarappa, Director of Physical Education of the organization thanked all the teams who participated, all the sports lovers who cooperated, and the Sports Committee and staff who worked hard in organizing the Games. The “Universal Premier Cup” cricket tournament ended with a striking success like a boundary on the last ball.
