About Corbett Tiger Reserve:

·   Location: Nainital district, Uttarakhand.

·   Establishment: Hailey National Park in 1936, later renamed after Jim Corbett.

·   Project Tiger launch site in 1973.

·   Area: Core area as Corbett National Park, buffer includes Sonanadi Wildlife Sanctuary.

·   Geography: Mountainous terrain in Shivalik and Outer Himalaya.

·   Rivers: Ramganga, Sonanadi, Mandal, Palain, and Kosi.

·   Tiger Population: 230 tigers in 500 sq km, world’s highest tiger density.

·   Flora: Dense deciduous forests with 600 plant species, including Sal, Khair, and Sissoo.

·   Fauna: Besides tigers and leopards, jungle cats, deer species, and other mammals inhabit the reserve.
