TRAI SEEKS GOVT CLARITY ON BACKHAUL SPECTRUM RULES
Why in the news?
- In accordance with the new Telecommunications Act, the government has been questioned by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on backhaul spectrum
- Stakeholders in the sector have expressed concerns about the act’s requirement that certain frequencies be distributed administratively.
About Backhaul Spectrum
- Backhaul Spectrum: The frequencies utilized to link communication devices and guarantee data flow between the access network and the core network are referred to as backhaul spectrum.
- Bands E and V:
- 5G backhaul mainly uses the E band (71-76 GHz and 81-86 GHz) and V band (57-64 GHz and 64-71 GHz).
- High-capacity connections require these bands, particularly in crowded urban areas.
