Tele-Law Programme : 40 Lakh Beneficiaries
News: The Tele-Law programme, according to the Ministry of Law, reached a new milestone by providing pre-litigation guidance to 40 lakh beneficiaries nationwide.
In 2017, the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice began the Tele-Law project.
To “Reach the Unreached,” it is an electronic interface technique for seeking legal counsel and consulting prior to litigation.
The scheme uses the video conferencing/telephonic capabilities offered at Common Service Centres (CSCs) located at the panchayat level to connect underprivileged and marginalised individuals in need of legal aid with the Panel Lawyers.
Additionally, the Tele-Law Mobile App offers access to the service.
A practising attorney chosen by the Department of Justice and CSC-eGovernance Services or listed on the Panel of State/District Legal Services Authority is referred to as a “Panel Lawyer.”
Under the Tele-Law programme, everyone has access to legal counsel.
For persons who qualify for free legal assistance under Section 12 of the LSA Act of 1987, advice is provided without charge.
