Svamitva Scheme : Update
News: The distribution of 55,14,921 “gharaunis” (rural home records) under the Svamitva scheme was completed by the Uttar Pradesh state government.
Svamitva plan:
A Central Sector Scheme called SVAMITVA involves mapping rural areas using improvised technology.
Following the successful conclusion of the scheme’s pilot phase (2020–2021) in 9 states, it was introduced in 2021.
By using drone technology to map land parcels and giving village household owners a “Record of Rights” together with the issue of official ownership cards (property cards/title deeds to the property owners), it aims to grant ownership of property in rural inhabited regions.
The State Panchayati Raj Department, State Revenue Department, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, and Survey of India work together to implement it.
India’s 6.62 million villages are completely covered, and a vast CORS network with 567 CORS stations has been established.
Regional positioning service is provided by a network of continuously operating reference stations (CORS).
