About Indian Meteorological Department( IMD):
- Agency: Ministry of Earth Sciences, responsible for meteorological observations, weather forecasting, and seismology.
- Objective: To observe meteorological conditions, forecast weather, and issue cyclone warnings for the Northern Indian Ocean.
- Organisation Structure: Headed by the Director General of Meteorology, with six regional centres in Chennai, Guwahati, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, and New Delhi.
