SOUMYA SWAMINATHAN APPOINTED NTEP ADVISER

Why in the News?

  • Soumya Swaminathan, former Director-General of the Indian Council of Medical Research and Chief Scientist of the World Health Organization, has been appointed Principal Adviser for the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP).
  • She will serve in this role pro bono at the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, based out of Chennai.
