The All-India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, is hosting a 3-day national seminar, Shalyacon 2025, from July 15, coinciding with Sushruta Jayanti. The event celebrates ancient surgical wisdom and modern innovation in Ayurvedic surgical practices, showcasing the integration of traditional knowledge with contemporary medical advancements.
Shalyacon 2025: Celebrating Surgical Excellence
- Shalyacon 2025 marks the celebration of Sushruta Jayanti on 15th July, honouring Acharya Sushruta, revered as the Father of Surgery and a pioneer in understanding traditional rice varieties for medicinal purposes.
- Organised by AIIA, New Delhi, the 3-day national seminar features live surgical demonstrations, academic sessions, and poster presentations, highlighting advancements in Ayurvedic surgical techniques and their relevance to modern healthcare.
- Day 1: 10 general endoscopic laparoscopic surgeries will be conducted live, demonstrating the integration of traditional knowledge with modern surgical techniques.
- Day 2: 16 anorectal surgeries will be showcased for live learning, emphasizing the continued relevance of ancient surgical wisdom in addressing contemporary health issues.
- Day 3: Over 200 oral and poster presentations will be made, fostering academic exchange and promoting research and development in Ayurvedic medicine.
- With the theme “Innovation, Integration, and Inspiration,” the event merges Ayurvedic tradition with modern surgical techniques, showcasing how ancient wisdom can contribute to current medical practices and crop diversification for medicinal plants.
