SC DISTRUSTS DDA, ISSUES NOTICE FOR ILLEGAL TREE FELLING

Why in the news?

  • The Supreme Court issued a contempt of court notice to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) Vice Chairman for allegedly misrepresenting facts.
  • DDA’s Vice Chairman, Subhashish Panda, filed a “wrong” affidavit stating that 642 trees in Delhi’s Ridge Forest area were cut without court approval.
