  • Best Actor: The winner of the Best Actor category was Rishab Shetty, who both directed and featured in the movie “Kantara” (2022). “Kantara” is a Kannada-language film set in a Karnataka jungle and combines action, mythology, and folklore.
  • Best Actress: Nithya Menen won an award for her role as a character navigating difficult emotional challenges in the Tamil movie “Thiruchitrambalam” (2022). Manasi Parekh took up the prize for her performance as a lady overcoming personal obstacles in the Gujarati film “Kutch Express” (2023).
  • The National Film Awards: It recognize excellence in acting, directing, music, and technical accomplishments, are the most prestigious in Indian cinema. Established in 1954, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s Directorate of Film Festivals oversees their administration.
  • Other Notable Winners:
    • Best Director: The Hindi film “Unchai” (2022) received Best Director, going to Sooraj R Barjatya.
    • Best Music Direction: A.R. Rahman received Best Music Direction for “Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1” (2022) and Pritam won for “Brahmastra: Part 1 – Shiva” (2022).
    • Best Feature Film: Anand Ekarshi’s Malayalam film “Attam” (2023) took home the Best Feature Film title. The movie had earlier taken home the Grand Jury Award from the Los Angeles Indian Film Festival.
