About Uniform Civil Code

·   Not legally binding but serves as guidance for policymaking.

·   Advocated for promoting national integration and gender justice, but opposed due to concerns over religious freedom and diversity.

Current Scenario of Personal Laws:

·   Muslims, Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, Sikhs, Parsis, and Jews governed by their respective personal laws.

·   Only Goa in India has a Uniform Civil Code, following the Goa Civil Code since 1961 after liberation from Portuguese rule.
