PMFME Scheme

News: In order to provide financial, technical, and business support to micro food processing enterprises in India, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is implementing the centrally funded PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme (PMFME) Scheme.

The Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan – Vocal for Local Initiative in the food manufacturing industry includes this programme.

The PMFME scheme seeks to promote formalisation of the industry and increase the competitiveness of new and existing individual micro-enterprises in the unorganised segment of the food processing industry.

The PMFME scheme will be in existence from 2020–2021 to 2024–2025 and will cost Rs. 10,000 crore.

The programme uses the One District One Product (ODOP) strategy to take advantage of scale in terms of input procurement, use of shared services, and product promotion.

Aspirational Districts, minor forest goods, and waste to wealth products are additional focus areas.
