About the Inauguration of Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav 2024:
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the three-day Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav 2024 on December 6 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
- The event highlights the cultural, social, and economic fabric of eight northeastern states—Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, and Sikkim.
- Known as the “Ashtalakshmi,” these states are considered symbols of prosperity and are central to India’s growth vision.
Key Objectives and Features:
- The festival will showcase the region’s textiles, artisanal crafts, and GI products, fostering business relationships and generating sales.

- Five task forces have been established to enhance value chains for local products like bamboo and rubber, maximizing farmers’ and artisans’ economic potential.
- Upcoming initiatives include a bankers’ summit to improve credit access and infrastructure projects to enhance connectivity through mega bridges and expanded rail, road, and air networks.
