PM Modi to Inaugurate First Bodoland Mahotsav in Delhi
Why in the news?
The inaugural Bodoland Mahotsav celebrates Bodo culture, language, and resilience since the 2020 Bodo Peace Accord, fostering unity and promoting cultural tourism for the Bodo community across Northeast India.
PM to Inaugurate the First Bodoland Mahotsav in Delhi:
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the first-ever Bodoland Mahotsav at the SAI Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi on 15th November 2024 at 6:30 PM.
- The two-day event, scheduled for 15th and 16th November, celebrates the cultural, linguistic, and literary heritage of the Bodo community while promoting peace and fostering a vibrant Bodo society.
Theme and Purpose:
- The Mahotsav’s theme, “Peace and Harmony for Prosperous Bharat,” emphasises cultural and social integration of Bodo communities from Bodoland, Assam, West Bengal, and border regions across the Northeast.
- This festival aims to promote unity and prosperity by focusing on language, education, and cultural diversity, showcasing the Bodo community’s contributions to India’s heritage.
Highlights and Sessions:
- The event will feature a session on “The Rich Bodo Culture, Tradition, and Literature Contributing towards Indian Heritage,” discussing Bodo culture, language, and literature.
- Another session will address the “Challenges and Opportunities of Mother Tongue Medium Instruction” in light of the National Education Policy 2020.
- A thematic discussion on “Building a Vibrant Bodoland through Culture & Tourism” will explore tourism and cultural development for the region.
- More than 5,000 attendees, including cultural enthusiasts from Assam, West Bengal, Tripura, Nagaland, and neighbouring countries like Nepal and Bhutan, are expected to participate.
