- Prime Minister Narendra Modi is launching the ‘Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari’ initiative via video conferencing from Surat, Gujarat.
- The initiative supports the ongoing Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain campaign, aligning with Modi’s vision for collaborative water management and long-term water security.
- It aims to mobilise citizens, local bodies, industries, and stakeholders in Gujarat to implement rainwater harvesting structures.
- The program highlights a “whole-of-society” approach, with a focus on turning every drop of rain into a resource.
- PM Modi emphasises water conservation as a national mission, calling for collective action.
- The initiative aims to inspire other states to adopt similar community-driven water conservation efforts, showcasing Gujarat’s leadership in water management.
Community-Driven Water Conservation in Gujarat:
- Around 24,800 rainwater harvesting structures are being constructed across Gujarat through community partnerships.
