Key Facts about Semicon India Programme:

  • Launched in 2021 with a financial outlay of 76,000 crore under the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY).
  • Aims: to develop a sustainable semiconductor and display ecosystem in India.
  • Provides financial support for companies investing in semiconductor, display manufacturing, and design.
  • Promotes indigenous Intellectual Property (IP) generation and Technology Transfer (ToT).
  • Includes four schemes:
    • Semiconductor Fabs setup in India.
    • Display Fabs setup in India.
    • Compound Semiconductors/Sensors Fabs and ATMP/OSAT facilities setup.
    • Design Linked Incentive (DLI) Scheme to promote design.
