PM as chief guest at Navy Day function in Sindhudurg
News:
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the Chief Guest at the Navy Day function in Sindhudurg, Maharashtra, today, December 4.
- In the evening, the Prime Minister will unveil a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Rajkot Fort.
- He will also see the “Operational Demonstrations” later on, which will be conducted by Indian Navy ships, submarines, planes, and special forces from Sindhudurg’s Tarkarli beach.
About Navy Day:
- This marks the inaugural instance of the Indian Navy arranging an event of this magnitude outside of a naval station.
- The Indian Navy observes Navy Day on December 4th in remembrance of “Operation Trident,” the Navy’s daring attack on Karachi Harbor during the 1971 War.
- The celebrations held at Sindhudurg this year honor the rich maritime legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, whose seal served as the inspiration for the recently adopted new Naval Ensign.

- The Operation Demo is being held to honor the personnel’s valor and courage, as well as their determination to accomplish the impossible in difficult circumstances.
