Phase-V Of The Sagar Parikrama Initiative
News: The start of Phase-V of the Sagar Parikrama initiative was recently declared by the Union Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairy.
Through numerous fisheries policies and programmes, including as the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) & Kisan Credit Cards (KCC), Sagar Parikrama seeks to alleviate the issues encountered by fishermen and stakeholders while improving their economic prospects.
As part of the 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, an evolutionary voyage called the Sagar Parikrama is planned in the water throughout the coastal belt to show solidarity with all fishermen, fish growers, and other interested parties.
Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairy is the nodal ministry.
The State Fisheries officials, Fishermen representatives, Fish-Farmers entrepreneurs, stakeholders, professionals, officials, and Scientists from all across the country shall accompany the Parikrama.
Six destinations will be visited during the Phase-V tour in the states of Maharashtra and Goa. In connection with the PMMSY, KCC, and State Schemes, certificates and sanctions will be given to fishermen, coastal fishers, fish farms, and young fisheries entrepreneurs when they are travelling.
Phase III mostly includes Maharashtra and Gujarat’s coasts.
The “Sagar Parikrama” Phase I and II programmes were held in March 2022 and September 2022, respectively.
