About the Dispute:
- The South Pennar, originating in Nandi Hills, passes through Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh before reaching the Bay of Bengal via Tamil Nadu.
- Tamil Nadu objects to Karnataka’s project along the Markandeya river, a tributary of South Pennar, affecting water supply to several villages.
- Despite an 80% complete storage facility in Kolar district, the dispute persists, leading Tamil Nadu to seek a tribunal’s intervention for water-sharing resolution.

Origin and Flow: · Originating in Nandi Hills, Chikkaballapura district, Karnataka, the Pennaiyar River traverses Tamil Nadu before reaching the Bay of Bengal.
