Panch Karma Sankalp
News: Five significant announcements were made by the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, with a focus on green shipping and port digitization.
The ‘Panch Karma Sankalp,’ which stands for the five significant announcements made by the ministry, was introduced by Sarbananda Sonowal during the Chintan Shivir.
The following five significant announcements were made during the event:
MoPSW will contribute 30% of the funds needed to promote green shipping.
Kandla will purchase two tugs for each of the following ports: Jawaharlal Nehru Port, VO Chidambaranar Port, Paradip Port, and Deendayal Port.
Green Hydrogen Hubs will be established at VO Chidambaranar Port in Tuticorin and Deendayal Port in Kandla.
For the purpose of organising and managing reservations for river and sea tours, a single window portal will be created.
By 2024, Tuticorin’s VO Chidambaranar Port and Jawaharlal Nehru Port will both be smart ports.
These announcements are intended to revolutionise the maritime sector and advance environmentally friendly practises.
Four important ports—Jawaharlal Nehru Port, VO Chidambaranar Port, Paradip Port, and Deendayal Port, Kandla—will each purchase two tugs as part of the Green Tug Transition Programme.
This action will lessen the impact on the environment and promote environmentally friendly shipping methods.
