Operation Tikka: Army Hits Back After Pahalgam Tourist Attack

Following the terrorist attack on tourists at Baisaran Maidan near Pahalgam in Anantnag district, the Indian Army launched Operation Tikka on April 23, 2025, in the Uri sector of Baramulla district. The operation was commanded by Brigadier Mayank Shukla, who led the mission based on intelligence reports of 2–3 terrorists attempting to infiltrate through the Sarjeevan area near Uri Nala. The Army intercepted the infiltrators, resulting in a two-hour firefight that killed two terrorists and led to the recovery of huge weapons

Operation Tikka is ongoing, reflecting the Army’s commitment to countering cross-border terrorism and ensuring civilian safety.

The operation is led by the Chinar Corps (XV Corps) of the Indian Army, headquartered at Badami Bagh Cantonment, Srinagar, under the Northern Command. Established in 1948, the Corps is responsible for security in the Kashmir Valley, covering districts like Kupwara, Baramulla, Srinagar, and Anantnag. Additionally, through Operation Sadbhavana, the Corps promotes education, healthcare, youth development, and infrastructure in remote areas.
